Things To Do in Doral Worth Experiencing
The City of Miami has a million and one things to see and do, so it’s easy to forget there is more to Miami-Dade County (or MDC, as you’ll see on bumper stickers everywhere) than the City itself. But just to the west of Miami is the City of Doral, known for its large and vibrant Venezuelan population that has created a small oasis to anyone who is smart enough to put the City as a must-see on their trip to Miami. In Doral you can find art, sports, yummy drinks, a variety of food, and dance, all with the welcoming, easy-going hospitality you’d hope to get from a carefree suburb.

This gallery doesn’t have the oppressive crowds you may find in the Design District or Miami Beach, and offers all the culture and avantgarde works you’d expect from a gallery in MDC. The work is fresh and diverse, showing art in its numerous mediums by artists from all different backgrounds—the perfect representation of Miami-Dade itself.

If seeing stills of people and objects in motion leaves you desperate for some movement of your own, cart yourself over to the golfer’s paradise that America’s Golfer-in-Chief, President Donald J. Trump owns. Regardless of how you feel about politics, here you’ll find a beautiful outdoor escape complete with a gorgeous hotel. Hang out in the club, relax, and cool off after a fun round of 9- or a pleasantly challenging 18-holes.

The bruhaus is open 12 to 12 everyday (and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays). They have 54 beers on tap, with a page and half’s worth of in-house libations. If for some reason craft beer isn’t your thing, you should still make a stop for sangria, cider, wine, or even a delicious craft soda. The vibe here is exactly what you would expect when mixing brew culture with the laid-back attitude of South Florida.

It comes highly recommended by one of SOBE’s great bartenders and my trusted friend for all things Miami, Anthony Valencia (from Driftway at Generator Miami). Here, Latin meets Asian in a fresh and delicious menu you can’t resist. You’ll find seafood, pork, quinoa, and rice mixing in a way that will have you ordering multiples “para picar” (literally “to pick at,” think: shareables) along with an order or two from the wok that you may just have to “llevar,” or carry out a delicious Bison Burger. Don’t forget to try one of the amazing craft cocktails imagined by Finka’s bartender, Alexander Aportela.14690 SW 26th St

They’re open until 4 o’clock every morning (yes, all seven of them) so you can dance the night away to every kind of Latin beat. They have salsa legends like Tito Rojas come play, along with hot Miami beats brought to you by master disc jockeys like DJ Africa. You can also lounge around the club in quiet corners to rest your feet or rehydrate while watching some of the best Latin dancers spin across the floor.3450 Northwest 83rd Ave

After your day exploring, moving, eating, and drinking, you’ll need a very long and lazy day at the beach to recover before you can think of exploring a different neighborhood in MDC—or maybe you’ll find yourself coming back for some of Doral’s high-end shopping and Venezuelan delights. Either way, exploring Doral is a must for anyone in Magic City.
