Coming Up: South Florida's League of Lady Arm Wrestlers at Villain Theater
The newly-formed South Florida League of Lady Arm Wrestlers (SoFLLAW) will hold its inaugural “brawl” Saturday, December 8th at Villain Theater, 5865 NE 2nd Ave, Miami. The benefit match will feature South Florida's biggest, baddest lady-identified arm wrestlers, live musical entertainment, and raffle prizes throughout the night. Doors open at 10:30pm with the first match beginning at 11 pm. Tickets for this event in Miami are priced at $10, and are available in advance at www.sofllaw.org, or $15 at the door (the ladies will gladly take cash or credit at the door).
The Wreckoning. Bettie Rage. El Beastie. Kitty Purry. ¡Leyenda! LiberaSHE. The Pizza Viking.Pound Cake. the Red Huntress. Rhonda Michaels. Stella Aldrin. La Calavera. Raquel: The Coal-Hearted Snake. Their names echo through the ages. They come from all corners of South Florida, united only by One Dream: to elbow their way through the competition and wrestle their way to the top. Joined by SoFLLAW's Mistress of Ceremonies, gender bending, bodybuilding, drag monster from Miami, Miss Toto, the line-up of not-so-lady-like ladies in outrageous costumes volunteer their time to vie for that most cherished prize - the bedazzled SoFLLAW Champion’s Belt. Who will dominate their way up the bracket? Or leverage their way to the top? All these questions and more will be answered, and all of South Florida is invited to bear witness.
Not content to leave the fun in the arms of its competitors, SoFLLAW gets everyone in on the action. Audience members have the opportunity to purchase BETBUX, the official currency of SoFLLAW, throughout the night. With their BETBUX, onlookers can bet on their favorite wrestlers to prevail, and maybe slip a few to the referees to even the score. All BETBUX purchased also go towards fantastic raffle prizes. Half-priced BETBUX are available in advance.
A portion of SoFLLAW proceeds will benefit the Fanm Ayisyen nan Miyami/Haitian Women of Miami (FANM). Located in the heart of Little Haiti, FANM serves the needs of low income women and their families as well as victims of abuse, neglect, violence, discrimination and racism. For additional information, visit fanm.org. Proceeds also benefit SoFLLAW's hosts and co-producers, Villain Theater. Villain Theater events have helped raise funds for numerous south Florida based non-profits including Lotus House, This Girl’s Lunchbox, Women in Comedy, Haitian Women of Miami, Southern Poverty Law Center, We Count, SMASH the Slumlords, Comic Relief and others.
