Fashion Talks Miami One Year Anniversary Bash
Thursday, November 15, 2018 marked the one year anniversary of Fashion Talks Miami, a monthly networking event for fashion industry professionals, fashion enthusiasts, college and high school students. It’s a great event to experience if you like fashion and are looking for things to do in Miami.
The event features panel discussions on a range of topics having to do with having a professional career in the fashion business. Discussion titles span from ‘Technology in Fashion’ to ‘The Perfect Fit: Finding the Right Pattern Maker for your brand.’
Despite the fluctuation in participants, it can be intimate, sometimes 3, or popular, sometimes 30, Fashion Talks has gone on consistently each month for an entire year.
To commemorate this milestone, the founder of the event Martu Freeman Parker owner of M.E.F. Productions, decided to forgo the panel discussion and instead have a party in celebration.
There were notable guests in attendance such as Grace Castro of the Miami Fashion Film Festival, Asanyah Davidson chairperson of Miami Fashion Institute at Miami Dade College and Griselda Lechini, Fine Artist and seasoned Super Model.
Also in attendance were a few of Miami’s rising stars in fashion such as local designer Caitlyn Suarez who just launched her debut swimwear line Ray of Light Swim, and Ruth Diaz, veteran talk show host and aspiring fashion model.
There was food courtesy of Miami favorite Pizza Rustica, Jimmy Johns sub shop , and a variety of wines and soft drinks.
To add to the ambience there was a slideshow to document each event via photo, and there was danceable background music compliment of the exquisite WeWork staff.
When Martu was asked about the events growth in popularity, she remarked “I didn’t really expect it to become this big of a thing! I just did one, then two and then when I wanted to take a break people kept asking when the next one would be. It sort of just took off on its own.”
The next event on the calendar is a talk December 6th during Art Basel week at the Mindwarehouse titled “Art is Fashion & Fashion is Art. You can RSVP via Eventbrite. Be there, or be square.
